When I was only five years old it never occurred to me
That I was loved more than anyone could ever be, and ya know
I don’t know why but in the blink of an eye
She’d always be there for me
Even though I was told she wasn’t my real mom

Verse2:

When I was just sixteen I was the king of the world it seemed
I’d come home late from a teenage date to find her waitin’ up for me
And I never let my emotions show when she told me she loved me
And it aint my fault after all she wasn’t my real mom

You know I've never met the mysterious one that folks would call my real mom
I am the phantom son of a mysterious one who is a real life total stranger
But in my heart I know she had a real life good reason for letting this phantom go
I just pray her real life has been half as good
as the boy in my real life childhood
Ya see I was the chosen one of a real life angel sent from up above
who I'm now so proud to call my real mom

Now it’s been many years since God reached down and carried his angel back home
And I thank my lucky stars that within my heart her memory remains
